What experiences in New Orleans have meant to me…
This experience has given me the opportunity to look at life, material possessions, and housing in a whole new and different perspective. In a life and death situation, there is only one thing that is more valuable than everything else, that is life and survival. I now realize the value, or should I say lack of value, towards name brands, labels and high end designers. I understand the importance of a home and the objects in it that portray our personalities. A home is a sanctuary and a haven. It represents safety, security and wellbeing. If it is taken away, there is a huge part of our lives and our souls that is taken with it. Being able to come home is a privilege and honor, that should never be taken for granted. Life is too short and too unpredictable to waste time and money on the insignificant material objects that can be swept away at any moments notice. I saw the spirit and the caring of the people join together to help their fellow mankind. I saw that the color of a person’s skin and the amount of money in their pocket does not matter when it comes to helping our own. I see that together, all people, white, black, brown, orange and purple care and can make a difference and impact the lives of others. I see unity and caring and service for all in times that that it is truly needed.
Sincerely,
Marcella
